About the Book

Original Publication Date: August 04, 2015

Out of all the mysterious boarders who call Sanctuary home, no one is more antisocial or withdrawn than Maxis Drago. But then, it’s hard to blend in with the modern world when you have a fifty foot wingspan.

Centuries ago, he was cursed by an enemy who swore to see him fall. An enemy who took everything from him and left him forever secluded.

But Fate is a bitch, with a wicked sense of humor. And when she throws old enemies together and threatens the wife he thought had died centuries ago, he comes back with a vengeance. Modern day New Orleans has become a battleground for the oldest of evils. And two dragons will hold the line, or go down in flames.

The Hero: Maxis

Max is a severe loner. One of the rare dragon Katagaria, he makes his home in the attic of Peltier House in New Orleans. He doesn't mingle with others often, but he does have special skills that come in handy from time to time. Ruthless and cold, he prefers solitude and speaks to very few-- Aimee Peltier is one of the few. No one knows anything about his past as he likes it that way. There is a belief that he was wounded so badly in battle...

The Heroine: Seraphina

One of the last of her kind, Sera has buried everyone she's ever loved. She trusts in nothing and no one, except in the willingness of others to cut her throat if she ever lets her guard drop. A dragonswan of many secrets, she has survived the centuries by her own guile and fighting skills. If she's going to go down, she will do so in flames, and by taking her enemies with her.

The Story Behind The Story

After all these years, Max finally came to me while I was writing Son of No One. I knew who his heroine was, but it wasn't until I had the family reunited that it all cemented into my mind. 2015 is truly The Year The Dragons Rise.

Wow Max guards the holy grail. It is said to bring back the dead and Grant omniscience and omnipotence. Kind of sounds like what Max and the Gallu described.

How did savitar get his post with the Atlantean Pantheon?

hunter, April 2, 2016

That hasn't been revealed yet, only hinted at.

bring on the next DH book I'm really looking 4ward 2 Urian's story as I'm totally in love with him

sam, November 6, 2015

Read somewhere that Adron's story was originally a full novel but cut down to make it a novella. If this is so , will you ever print the full novel? I always thought that there was so much more to the story that wasn't in the novella and therefore was incomplete. I really want this story and the novella "dragonswan" on audio. Was very disapointed that it wasn't in the collection Dark Bites".

Julia Zillmer, October 24, 2015

Both of those are published by Random House (Penguin/NAL/Berkley) which isn't Sherri's Macmillan/SMP publisher. SMP/Mac is the one who did Dark Bites and that's why it wasn't in DB, as Random House has the rights to those stories and hasn't released them back to Sherri. Sherri would love to do a full novel for Adron as a League:Nemesis Legacy Story and she would love to see those as audiobooks for the fans, but that is up to the publisher, not her. Sorry.

SPOILER QUESTION * * * * How is Phobos alive in this one when he was torn apart in Dream Warrior? Is there a time element going on like in Born of Defiance, or did I miss something?

Taylor, September 26, 2015

I think you're thinking of Zelos. Phobos isn't torn apart in DW or any other book. And there isn't any time element in Born of Defiance.

Carl, MB Staff, September 26, 2015

Is there a reason why that each Dark-Hunter books takes a year to release? I will be over 30 before Uriah's book is release. Ain't no telling when Nick or Savitar's books come out? LOL

Kesha, September 10, 2015

It takes awhile to write a 500-600 page book. Just typing one takes a long time. To create a plot, dialogue and characters takes even longer and while Sherri is a relatively fast writer, she wants to take her time and do her best work.

Now I wanna be a dragon!

Edna, September 1, 2015

Another wonderful and entertaining read. I have enjoyed everything she has written. This being connect to the Lords of Avalon makes it even more special. Look for the remainder of the story Arc.
