Years ago, family loyalty caused Fain Hauk to give up everything he loved: His military career. His planet. His fiancée. Even his name.

Now decades later, everything has changed. He’s built a new life out of the ashes of his old, and he’s vowed to never let anything threaten his loved ones again.

But when old enemies align themselves with new ones, he’s caught in the middle of a brutal war. And when fate throws his former fiancée back into his world and she has her own agenda that includes taking his head for what he did to her years ago, more than just his life is at stake. The fate of the Ichidian universe and that of his brothers-in-arms hangs in the balance. Winner take all.

The Story Behind The Story

For those who are wondering about the order reversal of Born of Betrayal (Fain) versus Born of Defiance (Talyn), I originally intended to write Fain’s book first and then go back in time to do Talyn’s. But as I was writing Fain’s book, I realized that because Talyn’s book takes place first there were too many spoilers in Fain’s book for Talyn. Too many things that needed to be revealed in Talyn’s story before we had Fain’s. Not to mention the Andarion political unrest and how Cairistiona regained her freedom and overthrew her mother, which is the plot for Born of Defiance (Talyn), plays directly into the plot of Born of Betrayal (Fain). So, it was only natural that they come out back-to-back in chronological order. I know it sounds a bit confusing when I try to explain it in vague terms to avoid spoilers, but it isn’t confusing in the books themselves. Just as in...

The book that caught my eye at the bookstore and the one that got me hooked to the series! One day I went to the bookstore and stumbled upon the book "Born of Betrayal" on the shelf. I began reading it the moment I got home and was instantly captivated. I fell in love with the story and the characters immediately! I am looking forward to many more adventures!

Great book, when I started reading it, I felt myself there witnessing everything I was reading. Sherrilyn, you are FANTASTIC, the world you create, is exactly the world I want to film.

Galena and Fain end up together, that I get, but their adopted children War and Vega are not marked under their names as children or Talyn's siblings

Kate, June 7, 2016

We are having site glitches/issues and are working on it. They are both listed in the family tree.

Hi Sherrilyn, I love this story and the league. I've fallen hard for Fain, Galene, and Talyn and hope this isn't he end of their story. Fain's relationship with his brother is amazing. I'm going that Fain and Galene can have more children if he entered the service, maybe they stored his samples like Keris and is Keris truly dead. Thank you so much for the hours of entertainment you've given me by showing me other worlds

Why hasn't Venik's wife Malys lost her Tavali canting for her betrayals, i.e., the bombings on Venik's StarStation, the attempted bombing of Hermione "Kirren" Dane and the passing of Alliance intelligence to the League? I know at the end of BOB Galene mentions having a "talk" (smackdown) with Malys and shooting Venik, but it seems like more should have been done as punishment.

Helen, April 6, 2016

We don't know what's been done to her yet. All that's been said is that Ven is protecting her and she's in hiding. As for Canting, it's issued by Nation and her husband runs the Nation that gave it to her. Plus, she's a Qill princess. There's a lot of politics at play with the Veniks. Nothing in life is simple and they can't start a war with every single nation and person over every slight.

I know this May sound stupid, but Can Andarion females be stralen?

D, March 3, 2016

No, it's strictly a male genetic anomaly. Females have another thing they can develop that's talked about in BoL.

Carl, MB Staff, March 4, 2016

When Fai and his son where trapped under the rubble that nearly killed them. When Nero's brother healed both Fain and his son did that heal everything. What I am trying to ask is when Fain was healed did it reverse the surgery he had to prevent him from having kids?

Tera, January 8, 2016

No, he wouldn't have changed that.

Carl, MB Staff, February 3, 2016

I wasn't talking about him handing Kiara over to Aksel....I meant Caillen accusing Jullien of taking a warrant out on him and inappropriately grabbing his sister.

Kadora, January 7, 2016

So was I. The answer to that is still in Born of Fire. Read the scene with Caillen and Syn . . . how Caillen reacts. Or rather overreacts. And you have to remember why Caillen overreacts to his sisters being touched, but the point is, he does. And remember, you only have his point of view. You don't know from Kasen or Jullien what was really going on. You're only hearing from an extremely overprotective brother.

Carl, MB Staff, January 8, 2016

I have a question ; Born of Betrayal addressed the majority of the bigger mistakes Jullien made but it left 1 incident out. The one Caillen and his sisters are holding over his head from ch.12 of Born of Shadows. Are we ever going to find out the truth behind that claim?

Kadora, January 7, 2016

You already know the truth of that one. It's in BoFire. But yes, you will.

Carl, MB Staff, January 7, 2016

I was wondering if Sherrilyn will post a list of current ages of everyone. Or give us a reference to tell what the dates are so we can figure out the ages of everyone.

Brooke, January 5, 2016

Ages for League characters are irrelevant as they're not from one single planet with a single calendar system. Nor do they all age the same way an earth human does as some of them are "alien" life forms. Nor do they all track ages the same way we do. It depends on their species and culture.
