Setting: Modern New Orleans

Live fast, fight hard and if you have to die then take as many of your enemies with you as you can. That is the Amazon credo and it was one Samia lived and died by. Now in contemporary New Orleans, the immortal Amazon warrior is about to learn that there’s a worse evil coming to slaughter mankind than she’s ever faced before.

Shapeshifter Dev Peltier has stood guard at the front of Sanctuary for almost two hundred years and in that time, he’s seen it all. Or so he thought. Now their enemies have discovered a new source of power- one that makes a mockery of anything faced to date.

The war is on and Dev and Sam are guarding ground zero. But in order to win, they will have to break the most cardinal of all rules and pray it doesn’t unravel the...

The Story Behind The Story

Dev is one of the best love of the Peltier clan. Once Bad Moon Rising was finished, I knew I had to go on to his story. Sam is one of the original DH I created way back when. I've always loved her, and I thought at first I was going to put her with Roman. But when I sat down to write Dev, she was the only one I knew who would do his story justice.

Re-reading this and realized that when Nick is with Artemis that he is having flashes of what Ambrose is doing as his life realigns

There are two big bloopers in this book: 1. Katagari(a) suddenly became Kattagari(a) 2. The flashback to Bastien and Gilbert's deaths doesn't make sense. Bastien is Arcadian, but he dies as an animal and Gilbert is Katagari, but he dies as a human

This misspelling was done by the copyeditor who didn't know better, not Sherri. There are several others that were done in this book by a CE unfamiliar with the world that Sherri fixed and the CE "corrected." That's the problem with a bad CE that unfortunately happens with a long-running series. As for the flashback. Both brothers were Arcadian. They both went outside to fight in bear form, but shifted into humans after death. The book says that clearly that the animal form was their weakest form because their Arcadian, but that the hunters think they're Katagari. They turn into bears to keep the hunters off Aimee and Dev. Even when they switch over to being human the hunters/other Arcadians still refer to them as "animals" because they know them to be Peltiers and believe all Peltiers to be Katagari and if they admit they just killed Arcadians/humans, they will be guilty of murder, so they refer to them as animals even after death. Dev doesn't "look," and report as to what's seen, only what he hears. So none of that is a blooper.
