The Story Behind The Story

The entire concept of the Dream-Hunters started from a slip of the tongue while Sherri was talking about the Dark-Hunters. No sooner had the word come out then she had the idea for the dream branch of the Hunterverse.

The idea of using disco in the book comes from Sherri's childhood. Her older sister used to play it constantly when she was little, prompting Sherri to whine like a pooch in pain. When she started writing Dream Hunter, she put it in as both a tribute to her sister's obsession, and as an acknowledgement that that would have been the time when Tory's parents came of age, and it would have been something they'd have played around Tory when she was a child.

When St. Martins decided to go hardcover, Sherri was concerned. Her fans were used to two books a year and since hardcovers cost so much, she didn't want to abuse their pockets. As a compromise, she and...
