"Death Becomes Us All."

Command Assassin Nykyrian Quikiades was born and trained to slaughter. Refusing to be a pawn, he turned his back on the League and has been hunted by them ever since. Though many have tried, none can kill him.

Now he’s taken his place with his family and is trying to raise a brood of stubborn progeny.

Being an assassin was so much easier…

I like collecting antiques. They remind me of the past and don’t try to kill me when I walk into a room. Though a couple have been known to attack my toes. Painful but not lethal.

Let no one see your emotions. Emotions = weakness. No one needs to know how to torture you.

My only weakness are my pets who are even more vicious than I am.

There’s only work. Everything else is just a distraction.

The bloodier the kill, the better.

I actually like to cook. Go figure.

Death Defying

Close call tonight. I was distracted by Syn who was in a particularly belligerent mood. Had one of Aksel's scabs sneak up on me. Punk got in one punch. I only got one in myself. But I made mine count. Guess Ak will be looking for...

Just finished re reading Born of night and i was thinking, are league commanders allowed to marry?Commander Quikiades has a wife and two sons.

ranchana, October 29, 2015

He's not an assassin. Only the assassins are barred from marriage.

I just finished reading Born of Fury and have started Born of Defiance. I am so confused. It seems like I am totally missing stories as I am reading now about Fain's grown son. Did he not know he has a son. What happened to the stories that should have led up to this one. Confusing..

donetta, October 28, 2015

It's not confusing. Born of Defiance goes back in time and takes place at the right before Born of the Night begins. It's a prequel novel and it says that in BOD a number of times, as well as saying that Fain has no idea he has a son and was never told about Talyn. It's why you see that Cairie isn't queen and that Nykyrian isn't prince from the very beginning so that it reminds the reader that this book is a prequel novel that takes place before the other books, just like Dream Hunter does in the DH series. It's done this way because it has a lot of crucial information about the characters (all League characters) for the next set of books, and rather than tell it all as back story, Sherri shows it on the page so that it won't be confusing to the readers.

I understand the technology is different in "the nine worlds," but how is it Nykyrian has recordings of some of the most personal moments of his life...moments he did not have to pay for with his flesh (given the dance fiasco)?

Gabs, May 28, 2015

Every moment of their lives are recorded. His father was a League commander and under constant surveillance as a result of that. Darling talks about that in Born of Silence that there is only one "dark," unrecorded area of his palace which is where his father was killed. Syn talks about it in his book that they have eyes everywhere they want them.

I just want to know what his pets look like <3

*Spoiler* Question about Nykyrian's future, In Other Worlds it address him as Emperor but which empire is him emperor of in that point in time; since Andarions live longer then humans?
