About the Book

Original Publication Date: September 04, 2012

Setting: Fairbanks, Alaska

Zarek’s Point of View:

Dark-Hunter : A soulless guardian who stands between mankind and those who would see mankind destroyed. Yeah, right. The only part of that Code of Honor I got was eternity and solitude.

Insanity : A condition many say I suffer from after being alone for so long. But I don’t suffer from my insanity-I enjoy every minute of it.

Trust : I can’t trust anyone…not even myself. The only thing I trust in is my ability to do the wrong thing in any situation and to put a hurt on anyone who gets in my way.

Truth : I endured a lifetime as a Roman slave, and 900 years as an exiled Dark-Hunter. Now I’m tired of enduring. I want the truth about what happened the night I was exiled-I...

The Hero: Zarek

Zarek was born the unwanted son of a Greek slave and a Roman senator. Moments after his birth, his mother gave him to a servant with orders to kill the infant. The servant took mercy on the child and took him to his father who had no more use for the baby than his mother had so Zarek became the whipping boy of a noble Roman family. No one knows how he died or why he traded his soul- he keeps it as a well-guarded secret. He trusts no one....

The Heroine: Astrid

Astrid had lost all faith in the better nature of humans. Tired of judging their black hearts, she wanted nothing to do with any of them. But when Acheron came to her and asked for a rare favor, she couldn't deny him. It was the best decision she ever made.

The Story Behind The Story

Zarek was a fun character to try and get past an editor. Ever try pitching a story where the hero is an insane refugee from the "sh*t pits" of Rome?

That being said, this book is often cited as a fan favorite. (I think it's the scene when he blows up the helicopter for the heck of it that gets people).

Dance with the Devil was written in just under three weeks. Originally, it was supposed to be the fifth book, but after Sherri wrote Night Embrace, she had to write Zarek's story. It came out fast and furious-- just like Zarek.

Dance with the Devil not only finaled, but won every contest it was entered into, except for the Rita Award. Ironically, it didn't even final in that one.

Dance with the Devil was slated to be a December release, but a slip-up in...

I loved this book, it's amazing. My favourite scene was where he trapped Thanatos in the burning house, I couldn't help but laugh.

Zarek's book is my all time favorite book and I hafta say that he's my absolute favorite character. And the more psychotic he acts the more I love him.
