Childhood

Sherrilyn Kenyon was born in Columbus, Georgia while her father was stationed at Ft. Benning, GA. Her father was a sergeant in the Army and her mother a convenience store clerk who used to take Kenyon to work with her where Kenyon would stock shelves and price items. Kenyon's father abandoned the family when she was eight (he returned to the family her senior year of high school), leaving her mother to raise Kenyon, her younger brother, and her older sister, Trish, who has severe cerebral palsy, alone. Kenyon's brother was sent to live with their grandparents in Atlanta, Georgia while Kenyon stayed in Columbus to help care for her sister. After 18 months of separation, the family was reunited when Kenyon and her mother and sister moved to Atlanta also. Kenyon's first recognition for her writing came when she won a contest in third grade by writing an essay about her single mother for Mother's Day and it was fo

Question:
Esther Romo asks: I saw somewhere that there was a movie made after your book "Devil may Cry". Is that true and where can I find it to see. That was one of my favorite books of your Dark-Hunter series.
Sherrilyn says: There is an anime series based on the game Devil May Cry, but it has nothing to do with the Dark-Hunter series. Dante is an awesome character though :) The title for my book is taken from a line in it that my editor loved and wanted to use.

Tom Simoneau asks: When will we know more about the connection between Jared and Jaden?
Sherrilyn says: Soon :)

Alyssa Sequinot asks: I was wondering if we will be seeing more of a history on Savitar?
Sherrilyn says: Yes :)

Metrogirl asks: Will Cael and Amaranda ever have a full length book?
Sherrilyn says: That's what I'm hoping.

Metrogirl asks: Is it true that Kieran became a dark-hunter? If so will he have a story?
Metrogirl asks: You Are A Great Author Sherilyn! Could it be possible Apollodorus be reincarnated into someone near and dear to Ash heart?
Sherrilyn says: Maybe :)

Jerome OConner asks: I was wondering if you ever thought about creating a dark hunter novel that was based in Georgia? I would love for one to be set in my state.
Sherrilyn says: Since that's my native stomping ground, yes. I just haven't had time to get to that one yet :)

Autumn Abbott asks: Hi. Love the books! My father was wondering where you went to high school in Columbus, he went to school there and is the same age as you! Reading your bio has been an inspiration to me and my mother as well. My mother went to GCSU, which is where sh
Sherrilyn says: Aww thanks, sweetie. I didn't go to high school there. Sorry. I went to high school in Atlanta.

Samantha Emeigh asks: Who at Sanctuary are NOT mated?...
Sherrilyn says: Lots. Dev, Remi, Cherif, Kyle, Cody, and Etienne as well as many of the others such as Colt, Jasyn, Carson, etc.

Kaitlyn LeFrancois asks: dont really have a question, just wanted to say u r a wonderful writer!!!
Sherrilyn says: Aww thank you, sweetie :)

Cindy asks: Hi there! I have seen your books everywhere but I haven't read any of them yet. I really love Regency and Historical books, are any of your books set that time? Thanks!
Sherrilyn says: The Kinley MacGregor books that I write are historicals. You can check them out under the series tab: Brotherhood of the Sword, Sea Wolves, MacAllisters and Lords of Avalon.

Amanda Smith asks: hi i've only just reading your dark hunter novels. and i don't have a question just praise i loved them so much i gave my mom the first book and now we lovingly fight over who going to read the next book first. and now my little sister is in on the g
Sherrilyn says: Eeek, sweetie, your question was cut off.

Anne asks: Do you get copies of your foreign print books or just covers? I think that would be cool to have book flats of all those editions..
Sherrilyn says: I've only received a small handful of flats from the UK. I "usually" get a couple of copies from the other publishers, but not always. The covers on the site are the ones where I've been sent the copies and Erin has scanned them in and posted them. Or they're ones that fans in those countries have scanned in and sent.

Penny asks: I just read your bio and want to tell you how proud of you I am! I came from a difficult childhood as well and knew physical and sexual abuse first hand. It takes great courage to emerge from this without hating everyone and everything around you. I
Sherrilyn says: Hugs to you, sweetie. The scars of our past are the mementoes we can never hide. And it is a struggle every day. I couldn't stop the pain in my childhood, but I can control whether or not it ruins my present and my future. That is the one thing I will not allow it to do. Now that I'm free of it, it will not enslave me for another minute. I'm too stubborn for that :) My abusers took enough from me, I won't let then take anymore. But words are easy. It's living by them that's hard and as I said, it is a struggle. But as my friend Kim says, the best thing is to not let them steal your day. Hugs to you, sweetie!

Mark C asks: Reading Acheron at the momement - its not possible to put it down!! I find Jared the most mystifying - who is he???
Sherrilyn says: Ahhh you know I can't answer that :( at this time. Sorry. But you will find out soon.

Stevie-Rae asks: I think your dark-hunter series is fantastic, congratulations. I have almost all of them I have only been reading them since January but they are rivaling ABVH series in my affections. Do you see an end in your series or is it all still coming togeth
Sherrilyn says: I know what the ending is, but it's a book I hope I don't write for a very long time. I have many, many more ideas in mind.

Kirsten McKnight asks: Hi, I don't really have a question.. just wanted to say I love your dark and dream hunter series. Also I tried to request an add as a friend on facebook and it said you had too many friends already! Wow! Keep them coming and thanks Kirsten
Sherrilyn says: Hey sweetie, we set up another page on Facebook that doesn't have a friend limit (something we didn't know about when we set up the first page) Please visit here http://www.facebook.com/pages/Sherrilyn-Kenyon/72100221443#/pages/Sherrilyn-Kenyon/72100221443 to join the Facebook page.

Kirsten McKnight asks: oh yeah, I do have question, what is your favourite GodSmack tune?
Sherrilyn says: Bad Magick

Amanda asks: Are you ever going to make your books into movies? And I just wanted to tell you your books are awesome. My dad gave me Archeron 4 months ago and I now have read 18 of your books.
Sherrilyn says: Aww thanks sweetie! This is the most asked question and unfortunately, there aren't any offers from Hollywood at this time. If one of you knows Sam Raimi LOL please feel free to send him my way :) But seriously, I'm at their mercy and so far they haven't knocked.

Lisa asks: Hi, just wanted to tell you I am so hooked on your dark-hunter series that my next tatoo is going to be the same as Ash! I love your books so much that I wait with baited breath for your next release. Could you please let me know when Nick gets his o
Sherrilyn says: Your question was cut off, but I think you're asking about Nick's book. Nick has his own series starting 2010 and he will have his own full novel at a later date.

Angela asks: I love the Brotherhood of the Sword series and have been dying for more. Do you plan to continue to write historicals as Kinley MacGregor? Will you write stories for more brotherhood members such as Phantom, Kit, Pagan, and Raven? Also I love Stryder
Sherrilyn says: I hope to get back to them one day soon, but for now I'm doing the Lords of Avalon books. You're right though, I have to get back to Damien and Pagan one day.

Jody Welton asks: Hello to all! Will you be making another Dark-Hunter Companion? Seeing as u r having 4 parts you could market 4 companions. It sure would help my pea brain to remember & keep everyone straight. Thanks!!
Sherrilyn says: I'm trying to work something out with the publisher.

Jazzy asks: Will we see more of the Bears?
Sherrilyn says: Absolutely. Dev's book is out Aug 2010.

Jazzy asks: WIll Acheron ever have a kid of his own( Besides Simi lol my fav character).
Sherrilyn says: He also has Kat :D, but yes, there will be others.

Jazzy asks: You ARE AWESOME!!!!!! THE BEST OF THE BEST OF THE BEST OF THE FRIGGIN BEST!!!!.........i love you.
Sherrilyn says: Aww thank you sweetie!

Kristi asks: First i would like to say i love your books! Will there be any novels being released on Savitar, Artemis or Simi any time soon. I'm very found of these characters. Also, would you ever tour down to Australia. I would love to experience meeting you. T
Sherrilyn says: I was actually in Australia Feb 2009 signing. I don't know if or when I'll be able to go back. As for Sav and Simi, definitely. Sim's SO actually appeared in Dream Warrior. As for Artie.... I can't answer :)

manola asks: Will Urian find someone to live again and will we ever get a scene with him and his sis?
Sherrilyn says: Maybe and definitely. I keep hoping to show him and Medea, I just haven't found a place to put it yet.

Harper Angel asks: i'm so sad i have to wait until Feb 2010 for the next Dark-Hunter book. I need my fix!!! ^_^ i also wondered if you were ever open to plot ideas from fans?
Sherrilyn says: Sorry sweetie, I'm not allowed to take any suggestion for plot ideas from fans. It's a whole legal thing. Case of some rotten apples who spoiled the barrel.

Merya Jo asks: Love your books. I started your Dark Hunter series a few months ago and just now got finished. Counting down for the rest, including Jared and Jaden. Is there an newsletter that I can sign up for so I know when the next book comes out?
Sherrilyn says: You can join the newsletter here https://app.e2ma.net/app/view:Join/signupId:60395/acctId:35530 And of course, you can subscribe to the news feed http://sherrilynkenyon.com/newsrss.php We always notify whenever a new book is out there.

Chrissy asks: I have read all your books several times and I love them all. I was wondering if Urian will ever have his own story?
Sherrilyn says: I hope so. It's what I have planned.

Melinda asks: Hiya! Just wondering if your fantastic books will ever make the big screen? That would be to die for! Oh, and thank you so much for working so hard to write such awesome books!
Sherrilyn says: I'm hoping, but so far Hollywood hasn't knocked. As soon as that changes, I'll let everyone know :)

Christina Williams asks: I've nearly finished the last of the series you've published so far. Any tips on how to stop the greaving process? I feel as though a Damion has taken my soul. Please don't stop!
Sherrilyn says: Awww thank you!! Start one of my other series :D That's my best advice LOL. If you like Dark-Hunter, you should definitely check out the Lords of Avalon and the League books as they are a similar type theme while being different.

Megan Martin asks: The depth of personality in each of your characters has given them a feeling of "real" and allowed them to become "friends" that I am constantly trying to check up on. Your talent is amazing. Just promise me you will save Jaden. I would kill Noir mys
Sherrilyn says: Aww thank you! I'm hoping to save Jaden. All I can say is it's about to get real interesting :)

Ciera asks: Will Sundown get a book?
Sherrilyn says: I definitely hope so!

Sandra Catron asks: I was on ebay and saw a listing for all 27 of your books in ebook form. Is it real or fake.. Seller said he was a Authorized Reseller of this product. I just want to check before I bought. I have all in paperback and Hardback. Please let me know.. Th
Sherrilyn says: Absolutely NOT. The resale of ebooks is illegal. Anyone who sees such a crime whether it's my books or someone else's, please report the culprit to eBay as well as the author. In my case, email officialdh@gmail.com with the listing. Cyber crimes of this nature hurt all of us, but especially the readers as it makes publishers hesitant to make ebooks available and it's why so many are encrypted so that readers can't use them on more than one system. It's also why the price of ebooks is so high. Please report these unethical criminals who are stealing from all of us.

Chrissy asks: I just want to say thank you. I am a stay at home mom to 3 disabled children (2 with autism, which you support) Your books give me a break from real life. Thank you!
Sherrilyn says: BIG hugs to you, sweetie. My oldest is autistic and my youngest has ADHD. Many hugs to all of you.

Sarah Fournier asks: hi, i just wanted to tell you that your books have gotten me through some very rough times in my life. everytime i pick one of your books up i know that at that moment in time everything will be ok. thank you so much for your books!
Sherrilyn says: Aww thank you so much for reading. BIG hugs to you!

Beverley Joseph asks: This isn't a question just praise for the book I just finished in less tha 24 hours....Whispered Lies got me from the first sentence. In all the books I have ever read this book had be riveted to the end, so much so I couldnt wait to wake up to fini
Sherrilyn says: Thank you so much, sweetie. I'm really glad you enjoyed it!

courtnie caldwell asks: Is there any way I can buy your whole series at a store?
Sherrilyn says: You should be able to. Most stores carry all of them. If not, you can order them. The easiest is to print the reading list at the bottom of the page and that will give a store everything they need to order whatever they don't have in stock.

Bob Sindeldecker asks: It is my ambition to read your first novel, which you wrote when you were 7, along with J.K. Rowling's book RABBIT, which she wrote when she was 6. Will you ever mass-publish?
Sherrilyn says: Possibly. It was a really good plot that I would like to revisit one day. But it would be a pure horror novel a la Clive Barker.

Alexandra asks: Hey there, love your books! This probably is way over the future. But will Acheron and Tory have children? If yes, will they (their children) get their own books? Thanks much! :)
Sherrilyn says: Yes they will and I can neither confirm nor deny the second half :)

Jennifer asks: Hello, I have not read any of your books yet (and I have only began reading paranormal books), but I usually like books that are more romance. You have so many books, I am wondering which series would have the most eightened romance? Thanks!
Sherrilyn says: All of my books are about relationships. Some are steamier than others because of the characters involved such as The Dream Hunter is about a succubus. By nature, he's into his job :)

Aleksandra asks: Sherrilyn, I absolutely love your books!! Will there be more Dark-Hunters based in Canada? and I would love to meet you one day!!! <3 from Canada
Sherrilyn says: I hope to set a book there, but haven't had a chance yet. Hugs!

Alora Wynd asks: Miss Sherrilyn, I saw you at DragonCon. This was my first year, and I had never heard of you before. I'm buying your books today! The idea of a vampire with a short life span is interesting to me. What a unique idea! While speaking I noticed t
Sherrilyn says: Hi Alora. I'm so glad, but your question was cut off so I didn't see it. Sorry.

Amanda asks: Your are an amazing writer. I can't put your books down once I open them I'll even quit sleeping. I know you're doing the YA books with the Chronicles of Nick but do you have a book in the making for him after all that happen when Ulric got possessed
Sherrilyn says: Absolutely. Nick is a major player in the series and there will be an adult Nick novel in the future.

christiane legresley asks: i am a first time reader of your book i would like to get a list of the books you already publis, thank you
Sherrilyn says: Hi Sweetie. Thanks for reading. You can find a printable book list here: http://sherrilynkenyon.com/book_list.pdf

Sordidtruth asks: I was wondering where you get your character photos from? A good few of them have some nifty resemblances to their descriptions... well at least how I imagine them to be anyway! Many thanks.
Sherrilyn says: They're from photo CD's we've bought online and at stores, as well as paid subscription sites online.

Nina asks: Sherrilyn, I absolutely love all the books I have read from you. I love Savitar, but I really care about Nick. Does he end up on the good side? I am scared because he is friends with the goddess heifer. Will the Chron. of Nick be just about his life as a young adult? Or will you show clues about how he will end up?
Sherrilyn says: It will chronicle his life until he crosses over and you will see him many times as an adult and his story will be told in the CON.

Tracy asks: Love all your novels, esp. Acheron! :) Anyway, are Xander and Brynna going to get a book still or is that all kaput?
Sherrilyn says: I'm waiting for the fire to return. When the time is right, I will finish their book.

Electra Zios asks: Sadly I don't have anything to ask but I just wanted to say your the best writing in all time! Is there a way to send you fan letters?
Sherrilyn says: Hi sweetie. Thank you so much! Email can be sent to officialdh@gmail.com and snail mail to: Sherrilyn Kenyon PO BOX 66 Spring Hill, TN 37174

Lauren Scheuermann asks: How do you decide which character gets to have their story told next?
Sherrilyn says: The one that won't let me sleep until I tell it. That's always the deciding factor in everything I do. It's the one story that burns inside me and consumes my every waking thought :)

Jennifer Goldsmith asks: When can we expect the Dark Hunter Story about Nick? When can we expect Scars and Souveniers do be released?
Sherrilyn says: Nick has an entire series that starts June 2009 called Chronicles of Nick. All DH novels come out in August.

Tara asks: Hi! I'm a new fan of yours and I was wondering if Acheron was the end of that particular arc in this series and another will begin? Thank you for these wonderful stories!
Sherrilyn says: Yes and the other began even before Acheron takes place. We're already firmly planted in the second arc and Acheron will be in future books.

Laurie asks: I truly love your work, have almost all of them, and constantly am rereading them....would you be willing to sign some bookplates for me if I were to send them to you with return envelope???
Sherrilyn says: Always sweetie! I will sign anything not a check :)

Melissa Daley asks: I just want to say i love the book Acheron. I read it over and over again. keep up the good work.
Sherrilyn says: Aw thank you so much!!

Tracey from NZ asks: Just have to say that i love your books and every time i now watch Constantine or any such time like movies i compare them to the characters in your books. You got such the coolest imagination and ides for these books,i really hope you do more of them in the future. My question to you is: Will you ever consider bringing your work to New Zealand for any appearances and such?
Sherrilyn says: Hey sweetie, I was actually there Feb 2009 and hope to make it back that way another day. But it's all up to the publishers and where they send me.

Maxine Johnston asks: Will Simi ever have a relationship? and a permanent one?
Sherrilyn says: Yes and her SO is found in Dream Warrior :)

Maurs asks: I love you Sherri! You are a great author. I have all your books both as Sherrilyn Kenyon & as Kinley Macgregor, including short stories, graphic novels & manga. Love all of it. And I would also want to point out that im not the type who buys hardback covers but for you i did! That's how special you are to me :D Now my question is this, will any of these characters have a book in the future? Styxx, Colt, Medea, Carlson, Max, Lysander, Jared, Thorn, Apollymi.
Sherrilyn says: Aww thank you so much!! You've very special to me too. I do have books planned for most of them, but I'm afraid to commit too far in advance for fear of disappointing anyone. But I can say this: Jared and Thorn definitely have books that I'm already plotting.

Nick Garcia asks: Its been a long time since I read a book, so I bought Bad Moon Rising and I loved it! Good Job. I was looking at your site and I see that you have a bunch of books. I was woundering which book should i read next and is there a film in the works for Bad Moon Rising because i would go see it. thanks and have a great day ;-)
Sherrilyn says: Hi sweetie, I'm so glad you enjoyed it and hope you continue to enjoy others :) BMR is part of the Dark-Hunter series and you might want to start with the first book Night Pleasures and read forward from there. The books are all listed in order on the site :) As for a movie, that's the #1 question. So far there's no movie plans, but I've got my fingers crossed.

Electra asks: I love all your books! I try getting everyone you write or I at least try anyway. lol. But I was wondering if you had soundtracks for each book? Or music we can get.
Sherrilyn says: Hey sweetie, as a former DJ and Music Director for several stations, I was the first author to include songs for their books. If you go to the YouTube channel http://www.youtube.com/DarkHunterSeries you can see some of the songs that go with the books. You can also find lists on character and book pages.

Marae asks: Do you plan on writing a book with Sundown/Jess?
Sherrilyn says: That is the plan :)

Vivian asks: Two questions for you, am I delusional or was Born of Ice not the original name? And on that note, is there any more League books in the works? I wanna know what happened to Thia. By the way, I love all your books and have been reading them since high school. You don't write fast enough in my opinion...:D
Sherrilyn says: Aww thanks sweetie. I want to continue the series, but will have to see if I can fit it in. And yes Born of Ice was originally published as Paradise, but it's no longer the same book by a longshot.

Teresa asks: Funniest thing! My best friend thinks my choice of reading leaves a lot to be desired. I finally got her to start Dark Hunters series. She is on book 7. It has been 11 days.
Sherrilyn says: LOL I actually hear that a lot :) Give her a hug from me.

Tori Porter.. asks: Hi. Not that I don't love your books or your characters but how many more characters are you going to make books for, aren't we running out of characters here? aha. I love your books.
Sherrilyn says: Um, no. Not even close there are dozens who have a story yet to be told: Savitar, Apollymi, Artemis, Jared, Takashi, Sam, Radon, Ethon, Jaden, Spawn, Sundown, Nim, Madoc, Nick, Sasha, Jasyn, Simi, Cael, Urian, Otto, etc and I'm not even starting on the second generation.

Carol asks: Are you close to someone in WAR CHILD since they are featured in much of the YouTube uploads?
Sherrilyn says: Warchild is my baby brother. I'm very, very proud of him.

Inma Perez asks: Hello!! I´m a Spanish teenager and I just wanted you to know that I love all the books, but Ash´s is my favourite. my sister and my best friend are also great fans. we´d like to know if you´re ever planning to come to Spain. Thanks!!! =) Hugs!!!
Sherrilyn says: I would absolutely love to, but it's up to the publishers where they send me. Hopefully one day my Spanish publishers will bring me over.

Nessa T asks: i just saw the prototypes for the DH dolls for Simi and Ash. i'm like stupid excited. will there be a "formal" annoucement of when and where to purchase them? and do you know who's next in line to be doll-i-fied. personally, Julian, Kyrian, and Talon are my hopefuls. and, YOU ROCK!!!!! <3
Sherrilyn says: I don't have the official release dates yet, but as soon as I know something, I'll let everyone know. Same is true for the next set of characters. I can't wait to see what else they do.

Jessica Mencheski asks: Hello Sherrilyn! I know you get this a lot from adoring fans, I personally have never had such a passion for a single author until you. I just finished reading 'Born of Night' and was once again blown away. Thank you for following your passion for writing and sharing it with all of us. Your unique style, vision, and worlds are a treasure. Anyhows, I don't really have a question... I just really wanted to share my joy and views. I am waiting anxiously for 'Born of Fire' and the next book in the 'Lords of Avalon' series. I did just pick up 'Upon the Midnight Clear', and am looking forward to sitting down to enter that world. Thank you again! Take care :)
Sherrilyn says: Aww thank you so much, sweetie! I really appreciate it.

Trella Crawford asks: I noticed that you are a big supporter of Autism awareness. I just wanted to know if the disorder personally affects you. I am the mother of a 4-year-old son with Autism, and I wanted to thank you for being a supporter of the cause.
Sherrilyn says: It does. My oldest has it and as you know it's not always an easy thing. My baby is very high functioning though and so to others it's not readily apparent. Still, he has very classic symptoms of it.

Please Wait...
